SOLUTION: The simplest method would have been to demolish the three properties and start again, but this would have required new foundations at great expense of money and time. Instead, we proposed an economical retention scheme with extensive temporary support works. The upper parts of the properties were supported on a new steel structure, allowing the restaurant to extend through the ground floor as the client wanted.
